Wimbledon 2025
The third Grand Slam of the year arrives at the height of the British summer, as Wimbledon brings the biggest tennis players in the world to London. Of the four Grand Slam tournaments, Wimbledon is not only the only grass-court Slam around, but the oldest too, having been founded in 1877.

At last year’s edition, young Spanish sensation Carlos Alcaraz claimed his second Wimbledon title, as he took down the old master, Novak Djokovic, in the Final.
Alcaraz will be among the front runners for the title again this year as he seeks a hat-trick of titles at SW19. As well as being the reigning champion with a proven track record, Alcaraz is also one of the top two players in the world at the moment.
Remarkably, seven-time Wimbledon winner Novak Djokovic is the only other currently active player on the ATP besides Alcaraz, who has won a Wimbledon title. He needs one more to join Roger Federer at the top of the all-time leaders list.

There was a surprise winner in the women’s draw at Wimbledon last year as 31st-seed Barbora Krejčíková claimed a maiden Slam title by defeating Italy’s Jasmine Paolini. Krejčíková will be a long outside quote in 2025 to pull off a shock repeat of last year’s Wimbledon success. The market will instead favour the likes of Aryna Sabalenka, Iga Swiatek and Coco Gauff.
There has been a first-time winner in each of the last seven editions of the women’s Wimbledon draw, so things are typically wide open, potentially bringing the likes of Qinwen Zheng and Mirra Andreeva into the picture.

US Open 2025
Deep into the autumn comes the US Open, which is the second oldest tennis Grand Slam, having started in 1881. The event is played at Flushing Meadows in New York, which features the famous blue court of the Arthur Ashe Stadium, and is one of the most speculator tennis arenas in the world.

Italy’s Jannik Sinner had his maiden US Open Grand Slam success last year as he swept his way to the title. In the Final, Sinner defeated the heavily supported home star Taylor Fritz in straight sets to claim his second Slam title of the year, adding to his Australian Open crown.
Sinner is currently one of the best hard-court players in the business and will be one of the favourites in the outright winner market for the 2025 US Open. Carlos Alcaraz, Novak Djokovic, along with Britain’s Jack Draper and Germany’s Alexander Zverev, will be among the chasing pack on the hard-court surface.

Last year at the women’s US Open, there was a high-profile winner as well in the form of Aryna Sabalenka, who finally got the job done after a run of near-misses at Flushing Meadows. Sabalenka has been one of the form players of 2024 and will be the favourite for this year’s title.
There will also be big home support for 2023 champion Coco Gauff and last year’s runner-up Jess Pegula, who will carry American hopes on their shoulders in the draw. Australian Open 2026
The Australian Open provides the first Grand Slam action of the year as it traditionally kicks off in January. It’s a testing tournament, as there is little time for players coming out of the post-season break to get up to pace on the fast, hard courts of Melbourne Park.

An elite defending champion like Sinner will be among the leading pack of contenders in Melbourne as he goes for the hat-trick in 2026, leaving the likes of Carlos Alcaraz and 10-time winner Novak Djokovic to chase him down.

America’s Madison Keys stunned the field at last year’s Australian Open, as she defied underdog odds to beat red-hot favourite Aryana Sabalenka in the showcase match. Keys held her nerve in a close final set to edge past the Belarusian for her maiden Grand Slam title.
Sabalanka was gunning for a hat-trick of Australian Open titles earlier this year, which made her loss in the final all the more surprising. But having won two of the last three editions, she will be a strong favourite in the 2026 Australian Open odds, along with other hard-court specialists like Qinwen Zheng, Elena Rybakina and Jessica Pegula.

Roland Garros 2026
The French Open is the second Grand Slam of 2026 as the world’s top players head to the clay courts of Roland Garros in Paris. The tournament is the pinnacle of the clay swing of the season and is regarded as being the toughest of the four tennis majors to win.

At the 2025 French Open, Spain’s Carlos Alcaraz successfully defended the men’s title, sealing the deal for the second year running in an epic five-set final. The 2025 finale saw Alcaraz battle Italy’s Jannik Sinner, who pulled out a 2-0 lead in the match.
Alcaraz, however, kept grinding, fending off match points to eventually turn things around and claim victory by a deciding-set tiebreak. As the elite clay-court player in the game at the moment, Alcaraz again will be a red-hot favourite for French Open success in 2026, with Sinner and Casper Ruud among the main challengers.

Coco Gauff claimed the French Open title for the first time, with a victory over Aryna Sabalenka in the women’s final. Gauff, who had lost the 2022 French Open final, overcame the setback of dropping the first set against Sabalenka to storm to victory.
The tournament saw Iga Swiatek's Roland Garros reign come to an end. Swiatek had been seeking a fourth French Open title in a row but was beaten in the semi-finals by Sabalenka. Reigning champion Gauff, Sabalanka, and Swiatek will all be among the leading contenders again in 2026.

Tennis terms you need to know
Tennis is a game with fairly straightforward rules, albeit one played at a breakneck pace with players firing the ball past, over and occasionally at each other at over 100mph. Even so there are a few tennis terms you need to know to get the most out of following – and betting on – the sport:
- - Love – the tennis term for “zero”
- - Deuce – for singles matches, when a game is tied at 40-40. A game must be won by two clear points: the winner of the point after Deuce has “advantage”, but if they lose the next point then the score returns to Deuce. In the majority of doubles matches they play a single point deuce so the winner of the point at deuce wins the game.
- - Set – a set consists of games, and the first player to win six games with at least a two-game margin over the opponent claims the set. A match is decided by the player who wins the most sets.
- - Tie-break – if a set reaches six games all, then a tie-break will be played to decide who wins that set. Players race to seven points, with serve changing player every two points. As with the rest of tennis' scoring system, a tie-break must be won by two clear points: if the score is 6-6, then a player must get to at least 8-6 to take the tie-break. If the final set of a Grand Slam match finishes 6-6, the tie-break becomes a race to 10 points.
- - Career Grand Slam – when a player wins all four Grand Slams across their career. Novak Djokovic, Rafael Nadal and Roger Federer are the most recent winners of the Career Grand Slam in the men's game while Serena Williams and Maria Sharapova are the only women to have achieved one in this century.
- - Ace – winning a point from serve without the ball being touched by the opponent
- - Break – when a player wins a game against the serve
- - Break point – when a player has the chance to break their opponent's serve
- - Match point – when the next point can potentially clinch the match for a player
